Pond Family Photo Shoot | Seal Beach, CA

A few months ago, my Uncle Mark, Aunt Kirsten and cousin Haley were in Southern California for a while, and I took the opportunity to spend some time with them and shoot some family portraits for them. Mark, Kirsten and Haley live up near Seattle, WA, so I don’t get to see them as often as I wish to. We met in Seal Beach and spend some time together at the beach, before enjoying a home-cooked meal. The fun we had added to the shoot, and I just love how some of the photos brought out the distinctive character of all three of them. I am sharing some of my absolute favorites. I hope you enjoy going through them.

Haley, who is so adventurous, took quite a liking to my camera and by the end of the night was taking photos of the harbor herself.

Gary and Tricia’s Engagement | Laguna Beach, CA

A few weeks ago I photographed Gary and Tricia at the Montage Resort in Laguna Beach, in celebration of their recent engagement. We all had a great time, and I am delighted to be shooting their wedding in August. Gary works for Disney in their PR department, and Tricia is finishing her Nursing degree at USD. The Montage Resort is where Gary proposed, so it was a special and definitely fitting location for their engagement shoot.

Here are some of my favorites from the shoot. The weather that day was fabulous, providing just the perfect lighting for great late afternoon shots.

I especially enjoyed shooting in this small cave we came across down on the beach.

It is always fun to interact with a great couple like Gary and Tricia as they seek to capture such a special time in their life through photography. I look forward to be a part of their special day in August, two weeks after my own wedding!

Victor and Jovy’s Wedding | La Jolla, CA

I’m excited to share some photos from a wedding I shot back in February, with my old boss and amazing photographer Dane Sanders.  The wedding took place at the Estancia Hotel and Spa in La Jolla, California, which made for a beautiful location.  It was a gorgeous wedding and I’m glad I can finally share some photos from the day.

As I usually do on my wedding photography blog, below are a few of my favorites of the day:

This wedding was a traditional Chinese wedding, started off by a Tea Ceremony with both the bride’s and the groom’s parents and grandparents.  Here Victor and Jovy receive a blessing from their grandmother.

Debbie and Kevin’s Wedding | Palos Verdes, CA

Two weeks ago I had the privilege of shooting Kevin and Debbie’s wedding. I befriended Debbie during my time at Biola, and was thrilled to be photographing one of the most memorable days of her journey with Kevin. The wedding was in beautiful Palos Verdes, CA.  It was truly a perfect day for a wedding by the ocean.

This was also the first wedding that I shot with Nathalie.  Most of you probably don’t know that she studied photography as part of her Communications undergrad and has an incredible eye for detail.  She will be shooting with me for most of the weddings coming up this summer.  It is such a good thing to be able to share these experiences with her.  And we make a great team!

I wanted to use this space to share some of my favorite pictures of the day.  I hope that you enjoy them!

We’re Engaged!

It is with great joy that Nathalie and I would like to announce that we are engaged!  I proposed this last weekend at Balboa Park in San Diego.  It was a beautiful and special evening, one we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

We are planning on getting married this summer in Temecula, and then have a reception in Malta beginning of next year.

Here are some photos we shot after we got engaged.  I used park benches and the ground to steady the camera so as to use long shutter speeds, which make for intense and surreal colors.
